Wearable Bliss
The best 21st birthday present I can imagine is a hug from a cloud...
Seeing that I don't have wings to get me to said clouds, my dearest sister gifted me with the next best thing; this gorgeous t-shirt from Vegan Era!
Wearing this shirt is as blissful as I imagine a cloud hug could be. It's soft and light, and easy on this dear planet of ours. Made from 70% organic bamboo and 30% organic cotton and created with hands who are ensured a decent wage and working conditions; can this t-shirt possibly get any better?
Yes it can! Purchases like this t-shirt from the Vegan Era online store* go directly to funding the Vegan Era crew's efforts to promote, educate and inspire the world about the benefits of living a vegan lifestyle to self, animal brethren and Mother Earth. It was a thought well thought the day that Vegan Era co-founder David Rafter brought this blissful beauty into the world!

Noosa North Shore

Last night I camped in the dunes on Noosa North Shore. This is the first time I'd been to the north side of the Noosa River, and I've fallen in love.It is an amazing place, very peaceful and pristine. A lot of the original vegetation and wildlife still exists. Saved from development by a dedicated group of conservationists who, about 50 years ago, lobbied strongly to the Government to have the area and surrounds listed as National Park. They succeeded, and today, parts of Noosa North Shore such as the Arthur Harold Nature Refuge, create an amazing biodiversity extension to the Great Sandy National Park*.
Visiting this place is A MUST, only a very short but beautiful car ferry ride across the Noosa River from Tewantin, and you've been repelled back into time. Where society's influences slip away and Mother Earth gently pulls you into her loving embrace, where everything and everyone lives in unity.
*The Great Sandy National Park starts to the North of Noosa North Shore and extends all the way up to Rainbow Beach and Inskip Point, including the gorgeous Noosa Everglades (Upper Noosa River) and the World Heritage Listed Fraser Island which lies north of Inskip Point.

For one human being
to love another:
that is perhaps
the most difficult
of all tasks,
the ultimate, the
last test and proof,
the work for which
all other work
is but preparation.

WORDS [BY Jem.]
UNTITLED
I didn't know it when you where there,
I didn't know it when it was right in front of me.
Could I have reached out and held it?
Could I have reached out and felt the warmth of your skin?
Would I have done it had I known?
Surely it's not just in my head,
but the more I think the stronger it gets.
Surely my heart speaks the truth.
Your spell was cast,
it feel upon me that night.
Possibly I did not feel,
for my heart was numb with your presence.
Slowly it comes back to me,
the conversation we had.
But like a scratched CD,
it's jumping around in my head.
Because it's too good to be true,
what I am remembering of our converse.
You speak softly of the freedom my heart desires.
Surely it's not just in my head,
but the more I think the stronger it gets.
Surely my heart speaks the truth.
I dreamt of a time, a memory, a life.
Two souls of the wind,
bourne of the sea.
Roaming this land and beyond.
Love was the drive; connection with earth, community and the other.
Creation was the gift; harmonies, rythums and movements.
Expression of the soul, creation of life.
Surely it's not just in my head,
but the more I think the stronger it gets.
Surely my heart seeks truth.
As I tread the earth I search the heavens.
I hear the calling of the stars,
I see the first twinkle of night,
I make a wish, or possibly send an answered call.
Are you as alone as I?
Are you biding the time?
Was that your spirit which called for mine,
the star a messenger of hope?
Surely it's not just in my head,
but the more I think the stronger it gets.
How can I conspire a love,
so strong and pure of soul?
Surely my heart aches the truth.
Could I have reached out and held it?
Could I have reached out and felt the warmth of your skin?
Would I have done it had I known?

Photographs of the newly restored old Saw Mill at Cooroy.
I have been to the Cooroy Library (Mill Place) quite a few times now and have only just ventured down over the waterway to see the Lower Mill Site. Today was the Cooroy Fusion event, to celebrate the Library’s 1st birthday. It’s a great place to visit on a regular day but on this day the where holding a mini-festival for community celebration.
The Lower Mill Site has a great vibe to it; having only recently been reopened after extensive restoration works to the old saw mill, it is now fit to last another 50 years. The site is entranced with a great installation of ceramic works which reflect the heritage of the site, and huge old timber sleepers which most probably had come from the original building. Within the old saw mill building, an educational walk through has been created with views of scenes to reflect what the workplace looked like in the early-mid 1900’s. Complete with ambient machinery noises and an audio tour of the kiln room.
The Lower Mill Site is open to the public Monday - Saturdays and is found beyond the creek which runs below the Cooroy Library site.
Please see this website for more details.
Don’t be afraid to explore the history of yourstomping ground, because, just like the present and the future, it is filled with stories and treasures beyond your wildest dreams.

this footloose feeling…
I have become quite accustomed to it; the flittering of butterflies in my stomach, the aching in my heart. This feeling and I have become quite good friends over the years.
I am experiencing it today, as I sit in this here office, monotonously typing humdrum figures into a Database. This feeling friend of mine slowly creeps up on me, honestly it’s been quite a while since it’s stopped by, atleast 3 or so months.
It takes me on a journey, into a fantasy land, filled with the myriad of life paths which I have layed out before me. It coaxes me to dream about the wild things that my heart desires; living by the sea, living on a mountain, working in a healthy food shop, studying art at university, working on the land, traveling to an exotic place, volunteering on an eco-warriors pirate-ship, creating a sustainable plot of land, living like a vagabond gypsy…
So many desires, so many contrasts.
These achings of my heart come to me always in slow moments of my life; during dull work duties, times of unemployment, times of uninspiration. I believe it’s my souls way of keeping me sain, keeping me from falling into the abyss of conformity. It’s reminding me of the adventure of life that lays before me.
So I would like to take this opportunity to dedicate this day; today a day of countless days in my exsistance, to my reckless, footloose soul. And thank it for this magical life that it has provided me.

To make a deep physical path,

To make deep mental path,

the kind of thoughts we wish
to dominate our lives."
